Responsible Rehoming
Life After Racing...
Responsible Re-Homing of racehorses is a huge priority at Martin Smith Racing. Once their racing career has finished, all our horses are found a new life whether it be breeding, showing, eventing, showjumping or a bit of happy hacking.
We like to keep track of what they are doing and always love to hear from their new owners!!
Take a look at this video explaining life after racing...
Here are some of our horses stories
Executive Order is a 16.2hh 8 yr old gelding who finished racing last year and spent some time with his owner chilling out . He was one of the first residents at the Retraining of Racehorses showcase yard at Palace House in Newmarket taking part in daily demonstrations and learning to be a riding horse. We occasionally have horses looking for new permanent homes, please contact the office for more information

This is Samson's Son, when he retired from racing it took 6 months to find him the right home but it was definitely worth the wait! He now lives in a gorgeous yard not far from us, he gets turned out in some lovely paddocks and trains in an amazing school. His new owner Sara adores him, as does his new friend!

This is Pack of Cards, he was rehomed by Martin and Michelle when his owners no longer wanted him. he now lives a happy life as a pet and companion for Briony Balmforth. Last year Briony brought him back to Newmarket to hack him out in the open Heath ride. They had a great day reliving his younger days. Life After Racing..... This is Meydan Dubai who had a long racing career with John Best. He was bought by Michelle but unfortunately never ran for us, he enjoyed his work and loved being a racehorse but he was getting a little long in the tooth for the training everyday, so Michelle retired him. She still owns part of him and he is being retrained by Claire Berry in Wiltshire. He has already won his first ever show and is coming along nicely with his dressage.
