Big plans are in the pipeline for My Mate Mark after his very impressive first run at Newbury on the 18th January. The 4yr old gelding by Sakhee who runs in the same Strawberry Fields Stud colours as 50-1 winner Teversham , led from the start and surprised some of the big players by just keeping on galloping.
Despite it being his first race and going off at 33-1 he showed a very professional attitude and a big galloping stride and kept to the task until the line. He was only caught in the dying strides by Alan King's Perfect Harmony.
Even the commentators appeared to feel sorry for him getting beaten by half a length after being in front for so long! The long term plan is to aim him at the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
Unfortunately the weather has played a hand in the number of runners lately with several fixtures being abandoned due to ground conditions. We have several good National Hunt Prospects waiting to run along with some new recruits to the all weather. So be sure to keep an eye on our latest runners!
